Blood sausage and beans on toast - breakfast at the restaurant at St. John Hotel, which I saw on an episode of “The Layover”. Delicious! On my next trip to London, I want to find people to come to dinner at the other St. John restaurant, which people tell me is unbelievable

Balloons - I visited both Tates today. I liked the art at Britain better than at Modern, which reminded me of the way I feel about the Getty in LA (so-so art, awesome building and grounds).

Baguettes - when I finally found Borough Market, I tried to find the stall that Patrick said last year had duck tongue sandwiches. Not sure I found it, but I followed a long line of people and got a chicken baguette from The Guildable Manor. Huge sandwiches for not much money cooked and served by the cutest boys I’ve seen in London so far. OMG.

Postman’s Park - found this after looking for something cool near St. Paul’s (which I didn’t enter as two of the three Dome galleries were closed and I was feeling too cheap to fork over admission for just the cathedral) so I used the Not For Tourists app (a gift from Jacinda) on my iPhone to find something neat nearby. This park was lovely. I want to get married (or at least proposed to or maybe just felt up) in this space.

Oh I wish I’d planned my Paris day trip better.

I only got as far as “Take Eurostar to Paris, go to Louvre” and that still left me with six hours to kill where I did little more than retrace the steps I took on my last trip to Paris two years ago.

So instead of going to places I’ve never visited like Pere Lachaise cemetery, Montmartre, or even the fancy boutique Colette to do some window shopping, I walked along the Seine, visited Notre Dame, got lost a lot.

Also I haven’t been eating or been forcing myself to do more sightseeing instead of eating and resting. Mainly because I’m still freaking out that I’m here by myself but also because I forgot all the French I knew and was shy about talking to people. Neither of which was mitigated by my empty stomach, by the way.

But the Louvre was beautiful, and I checked out the Pont des Arts with all of its locks. Seriously, what’s up with the combination locks? Boo. I confess that if somebody ever wanted to put his and my initials on a lock, then secure it to that bridge, I’d be into it.

Other thangs:

I gave a guy on the metro 1 Euro to stop playing his accordion.
I gave another guy 2 Euros to keep playing his saxophone.
ALL OF THE ASIANS!
A lot of the school groups I saw at the Louvre were led by seriously foxy looking dudes. Hello, teacher!
I forgot to get ice cream from Berthillon again.
Also no macarons.
I for serious saw no fat people in France. It’s kinda giving me a complex except OOH BAGUETTES LET ME EAT ON YOU.
