Get up at 9:00. Michelle is still sleeping so I quietly read e-mail, try to catch up on RSS feeds, shower.
Leave to meet Nadine for brunch at Les Enfants Terribles. Nadine came to town for a much needed break after doing a pile of work on her book.
Arrive at Les Enfants. Huge party of adults and a few small kids, a few two tops, and Nadine are there. Also Rachel McAdams and Josh Lucas and their totally adorable dog. I’m not kidding. I always complain about how I never see cool actor types whenever I come home to visit. Now I can stop bitching, esp. since they were totally cool when one of the kids from the huge party knocked over the table next to them not once but twice. And did I mention their adorable dog? I was tempted to update something like “OMG! Rachel & Josh are at brunch with meee” to Twitter but that would have been kinda dicky of me. Besides, I had some eatin’ to do - the croque monsieur was not gonna take care of itself. We ooh’ed and aah’ed over Michelle’s totally adorable netbook, ate delicious food - Nadine’s shrimp salad looked gorgeous and was tasty - and just caught up.
Nadine and I leave Michelle at the restaurant, where she planned to study. We wander to J&R so Nadine can drool over netbooks, then over to Century 21 where we look at lots of shoes and purses but buy nothing. Nadine talked me out of buying this bag. For now.
It is balls hot out. Wait, Bea Arthur died?
We take the A about one stop to SoHo so we can get our nails done at SoHo Nail. More talking.
Wandering east, we go to McNally Jackson so Nadine can get a snack and a book for the bus ride back to Philadelphia.
Walk east towards the Bowery, which is all fashionable shops and restaurants and the New Museum.
Nadine heads off the catch her bus while I get on the M103 and try to find Patrick to talk about dinner. Meet him at his friend Henry’s apartment on the West Side.
Patrick and I wander up Columbus Avenue, which is sorta post-college douche central, while we look for something to eat.
Patrick and I wanted to enjoy non-ironically a showing of “Obsessed” at the Loew’s across the street but we’re an hour early for the 10:25 show so we end up hanging out on a park bench on Central Park West yapping until 10ish. At which point I turn into a pumpkin and get in a cab back to Michelle’s.
